Minutes of 11/20/2008

1. Attended 11/20/2008 : Frank Rickey, Mark Sorhdal, Ed Stroup, Olga Strickland, Russ & Margot Wittenberg, Donna Hancock, Geri Seckinger, Pat Schwind, Powell Gammill, Brian Mackey, Bill & Barb Blewster, Sean & Jennifer Larkin, Chris Braughton, Rich Woods, John Eichenower, Bill Searle, Mike Shoen, Tom Costanzo, Dr. Darin Henry, Jack Gregson, & our speakers: Libertarian Ernie Hancock, Republican Roy Miller, & Democrat Donna Greathouse.

2. We started the formal presentation of our "Election Wrap-up" meeting, with a brief comment by my good friend & Libertarian Congressional candidate, Mike Shoen. Mike "voted for Obama", but knows well that our nation is controlled by nefarious forces way bigger than anything our first president 'of color' can muster. America has become a "National Security State", where the main goals are simply immediate control of the populace, eventual world domination, & "full tilt boogie war, 24/7", in the meantime, to reward the evil creeps in the 'Military-Industrial-Think Tank-Prison Complex'; (my interpretation, not exactly Mike's 'own words'.) Roy Miller believes that "without the recent 'financial meltdown', that John McCain would've won by 10%". Donna Greathouse countered: "Obama's use of the 'web', & Howard Dean's '50 State Strategy', were too powerful, even w/o the meltdown! ...not taking 'Public Financing' was a big gamble that won." Ernie Hancock completed the introductory remarks with his usual 'off beat' analysis: "The 2 party system is now like 2 fleas arguing about who controls the dog! The gov't won this election...the economy & US dollar are DONE! Obama's a big AIPAC (American-Israeli PAC) guy, so nothing's really gonna change." By ~ 8:30 am, we were into the 'Q&A'; I had to leave ~ 11 am, & there were still ~ ten folks still "hashin' it out"! Almost everyone attending had an opinion on something, or at least asked a good question. We covered so many wide ranging topics, there's just no room here to give more than a cursory mention of some of the most interesting: 1. What's the real, fundamental role of the Federal gov't? Hmmmmm? 2. Is there really so much difference between the two 'major parties' at this time in America? 3. In the campaign, did the GOP hit new lows of hypocrisy & mendacity, or merely 'just as bad' as the days of Lee Atwater & Richard Nixon? 4. It seems the nation made a major "Blue-Turn", except here in Arizona. Could this be the result of real 'election fraud', or are Az. voters just "redder" than most of America? Hmmmmmmmm? 5. Should we really support a massive 'Stimulus Package', or just "let the markets determine how the dust should settle"? 6. Should homeowners 'upside down' or 'behind on payments' get 'Bailed Out'? I actually got quite vocal on that subject, & stated that "I'd rather see homeowners forced to sell themselves on a street corner, than to see 1 dime of taxpayer money used to help people who bought too much house or borrowed too much money. SCREW 'EM!" That's right; I earn my living selling mortgage money, & I said "SCREW THESE PEOPLE! .... My wife & I never 'bit off more than we could chew', & when 'times got tough', (many years ago), we went out & took second jobs. ... America must SUFFER terribly, it must happen!"
